Momentum Leisure breaks ground for its fourth theme park in Poland

A new €50 million investment to bring innovative family entertainment to Gliwice

Momentum Leisure, the Dutch developer behind Poland’s successful Majaland theme parks, has officially broken ground on its fourth Polish park, located in Gliwice, southern Poland. The investment, worth over €50 million, marks another major step in the company’s expansion strategy in Central and Eastern Europe. The new theme park will be built on a 67,000 m² site next to the Europa Centralna retail park,  one of the largest shopping destinations in the region. The park will cover 67,000 m², including 10,000 m² of indoor attractions and 10,000 m² of outdoor zones, with an expected opening in Q2 2027.

"This will be a completely new concept”, says Wouter Dekkers, CEO Momentum Leisure. “ We are still targeting families, but with a shift forward to an older age group. Thanks to the park’s excellent location and unique attractions, we expect to attract between 400,000 and 600,000 visitors annually from Poland and neighbouring Czechia, a combined market of over 40 million residents. With this new investment we are present in all major regions in Poland and close the “Diamond”. Our investments reflect not just our confidence in Poland’s economic potential, but also our belief in the power of shared family experiences."

A new concept, a new brand name, and new experiences

Unlike previous Momentum Leisure projects in Poland: Majaland Kownaty, Majaland Warsaw, and Majaland Gdańsk, the Gliwice park will feature a new and innovative concept which will be supported by a new brand which will be revealed in second quarter of 2026. The project will focus on internationally recognised characters from Nickelodeon (including SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol ®, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and The Smurfs, developed in collaboration with the Leisure Expert Group from Amsterdam.

"The attraction mix in Gliwice is designed for children aged 3 to 12 years, but also for families looking for quality shared experiences”, adds Dekkers. “The park will include two roller coasters from leading German manufacturers Zierer and Gerstlauer, with one partly running outdoors – a first for our parks in Poland."

Another major distinction: the new park will feature a regular outdoor entrance, rather than the indoor-access layout used in previous Majaland parks. It will also be the first Momentum Leisure park developed entirely in-house.

Permit granted, the construction works to begin soon

Following a highly constructive collaboration with local authorities, Momentum Leisure obtained the building permit for this fourth park in October 2025. The acquisition of the site from Belgian investment firm Mitiska REIM, owner of Europa Centralna, has also been finalised. The joint development will create a major regional hub for retail and entertainment, further strengthening Gliwice’s position as one of Poland’s fastest-growing leisure destinations. With both the permit and financing secured, construction is scheduled to begin by the end of 2025, with the opening planned for mid-2027. The new theme park will be located next to the Europa Centralna retail park, one of the region’s largest shopping destinations. Europa Centralna, owned by a Mitiska REIM fund, has been undergoing redevelopment and optimization since its acquisition in March 2023 via the MEREP 3 fund, which has now sold a parcel to Momentum Leisure for this project.

Solid financial foundation and regional growth strategy

Momentum Leisure operates with a robust capital base of €150 million, enabling the company to finance new projects both through equity and external funding.
With this fourth park, Momentum Leisure continues its country strategy for Poland, extending into cross-border regions with Germany and Czechia - a combined market of over 40 million residents. Thanks to the strategic locations of its three existing parks and the new Gliwice park, visitors across Poland and neighbouring regions will soon be within just a few hours’ drive of a Momentum Leisure destination.
In addition to Poland, the company is also expanding into Romania, where it has acquired land in Bucharest, targeting a combined regional market of 55 million inhabitants.
